Gas mains replacement work - Troon

The following Alert message is being circulated on behalf of SGN

I’m writing to let you know from Monday, 9 May we’ll begin upgrading our gas network in Troon.

We’re carrying out gas mains replacement of old metallic mains with modern, flexible polyethylene (PE) pipes and will ensure our network is ready for green sources of energy, such as hydrogen.

To minimise disruption, we’ll be carrying out our work in phases as follows:

Phase 1 – 9 May – approximately nine weeks - We’ll begin work in South Beach, at its junction with Craigend Road. We’ll be moving north to outside number 86 South Beach. We’ll then be working at the rear of number 86, continuing north at the rear of properties on South Beach, until we reach St Meddans Street.

Phase 2 – 4 July – approximately 11 weeks – We start working from South Beach’s junction with Yorke Road. We may need temporary three-way traffic lights for everyone’s safety while we’re working at this junction. We’ll then progress south towards Craigend Road, and then move east along Craigend Road up to number 9. During this phase, we’ll need to carry out some work in Crosbie Court.

Phase 3 – 29 August – approximately four weeks – We’ll be working in Crosbie Court and Warrix Gardens .

During our work access will be maintained for emergency vehicles.

We’re issuing residents and businesses with the attached leaflet and will be putting information on our heras fencing, website and social media channels.

We are also aware of a planned event – the Glasgow Taxi Drivers’ Outing to Troon on 15 June and we will be ceasing operational work in advance of this day and ensuring that the site is both safe and tidy.

We’re working closely with Scottish Government to make sure we carry out our project in line with all current coronavirus safety guidance. We have extra safety precautions in place to protect our colleagues and our communities from the virus. Our colleagues will be keeping to social distancing guidelines on our sites, and we’d ask communities to keep their distance too. There’s more information about our coronavirus response on our website: sgn.co.uk/coronavirus

If you have any other enquiries about this project, please call our Customer Service Centre on 0800 912 1700.

We’ve written to residents and other local stakeholders to make them aware of our project and explain the details of our work. Please feel free to also share this information with anyone you think may be impacted by our project.

Thank you in advance for your support.
