Theft of Cooking Oil from a Care Home in Stonehaven

Police Scotland is asking restaurants, hotels and takeaway food outlets to be vigilant following the theft of used cooking oil from a Care Home in Stonehaven.

Two males attended at the property and falsely claimed to be from a legitimate company on Tuesday 17 March 2024. The males are believed to be driving a 64-registration silver Ford Transit.

Anyone with information can contact the Police on 101 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 1397 of 17/12/2024.

Constable Lock from the Stonehaven Community Policing Team said ‘I would urge restaurants, hotels and fast-food outlet owners to be particularly vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Police via 101. Used cooking oils are being stolen across the country and being taken south to be processed. If you have any doubts, call the company that normally makes your used oil collections to verify identities. Thieves are on occasion presenting false identification.’
