Home Security and Vehicle Theft

Hello Resident

Police Scotland would like to raise awareness of a theft of vehicle in your area where by the suspects broke into a property and stole various items including the keys to a vehicle and subsequently made of with that vehicle.

Local residents are reminded to stay vigilant, report any suspicious activity and keep in mind best practice for home security.

Lock your windows and doors when you're away from home and when you go to bed.

Don't leave spare keys to your home in a place a criminal could easily find them consider using locked key box.

Consider home security cameras, CCTV or doorbell cameras, and ensure they capture the areas you need to keep safe.

Consider outside lighting, motion sensor lights or dusk till dawn lighting to reduce areas of concealment and increase the effectiveness of CCTV cameras.

If you are away from home for longer periods, holidays etc, let your neighbours know to keep an eye on your property.
